Trading Light for Ice: A Night at the Hockey Rink
This past Friday, our neighbors invited us to watch an ice hockey match at Patinoire Pôle Sud, the home stadium of Grenoble's team, the Brûleurs de Loups.
It was my first time seeing a live hockey game, and I was amazed. The speed and skill of the players are incredible. I have to be honest: I lost all respect for football players who pretend to be hurt on the grass! Ice hockey is the real deal, and I loved every minute of it.
I usually take travel photos and portraits, not sports photos. I did not have a fast lens for sports, so I took my very old 70-300mm f/5.6 lens. It is not the best gear for sport photography , but together with my Nikon D850, I managed to take some nice shots. I especially enjoyed taking photos of the children playing hockey on the ice. Their passion and energy were wonderful to see.
