WEEK 18

This week something completely different. “Art from the walls”. We see it every day. We see graffiti which we like, some which shocks, some make us laugh.We stop for a second or two to look at it and take a photo in my case.

There are two photos which I feel very sentimental about, you can read a short comment about them.

“NEWER FORGET” is a graffiti from my home town Miedzychod. It has been there since I remember. Newer has been removed. I just love the correction. I would like to know who did it.

The second photo has been taken in Horta, in the Azores, 10 years ago when I joined The Dove as crew. It is a tradition to paint on the harbour wall a painting with the name of your boat before departing. It is supposed to bring you good luck and make you come back.

You can spend hours just looking at the different works of art. Some are simple, just the name of the boat but others are real masterpieces.

Sadly I don’t have any more photos to show you how impressive some of the art is. My phone with all those photos I took there was stolen from my back pocket within the first hour on shore in Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands, after 5 days at sea, which was also my first time on a sail boat.
